Jivamukti Bouquet at the Adler Lodge Ritten November 21 – 28, 2021 Soprabolzano Italy

November 21 – 28, 2021 / Soprabolzano, Italy

Jivamukti Yoga is a path to enlightenment through compassion for all beings. The method is grounded in the original meaning of the Sanskrit word asana – “seat connection “ – expressing the relationship with Earth, which implies all life’s manifestation.

Five Tenents express this core philosophy, and they are the foundation of Jivamukti Yoga. Certified Jivamukti Yoga teachers embody these tenets, colouring all their teachings with them, from fundamentals classes to the open ones, to other courses and workshops. These Five Tenents are even at the base of the interactions with others in the Jivamukti Yoga community. During the classes, the teachers do not necessarily teach them explicitly or even state them aloud, but they are always present.

Ahimsa: the non-violent lifestyle, extending to any kind of living being, to the environment, emphasising ethical veganism and every other context such as human relationships.

Bhakti: the acknowledgement that God/Self-realization is the goal of all yoga practices, and it can be expressed through chanting and setting a high intention for the practice.

Dhyana: the meditation, connecting to that eternal, unchanging reality within.

Nada: the development of body and mind sound through deep listening, and it can be incorporated in a class using music, pronouncing aloud words, or in silence while teachers are giving instructions and mentoring.

Shastra: the study of ancient yogic teachings, including Sanskrit chants and the activities based on the Focus of the Month.

There are eight types of classes and one standardised warm-up sequence characteristic of the Jivamukti Yoga.

THE OPEN CLASS

Whether you’re a beginner, deciphering the difference between vrikshasana (tree) and characteristic(headstand) or an advanced yogi who can put both feet behind their head, the Jivamukti Open class welcomes you, as it is open to practitioners of all levels. You work at your own pace, following the teacher’s verbal as well as hands-on guidance.

SPIRITUAL WARRIOR

Jivamukti Spiritual Warrior classes are designed for busy people who only have an hour to practice. The course is fast-paced and stimulating and is undoubtedly a “get-in-shape” class. The structure is a fixed set sequence instructed in a vinyasa style. It is a fully balanced class that includes asana warm-up, chanting, a setting of intention.

ICP

An In-Class Private™ (ICP) may be the best yoga class you’ve ever taken. During your regular group class, another teacher individually assists you throughout, refining and adding depth to your practice. In the hands of a certified Jivamukti teacher, you are comfortably guided through each movement of the class experience.

BASICS SERIES

Whereas in the Open and Spiritual Warrior classes, vinyasa is emphasised, in the Fundamentals class, alignment is the emphasis. Students are taught “how to do” asanas as well as the use of props.

BEGINNER VINYASA

This slow-moving, deep exploratory class provides the student with the underlying basics of how a vinyasa practice works. Vinyasa is a method of practising asana (physical poses), where the asanas are presented in a sequence, flowing from one to the next. The practice focuses on aligning one’s breath and spiritual intention with movement.

MAGIC TEN AND BEYOND

As a class based on Sharon Gannon’s practice, it contains Asana, Kriya, Pranayama, Meditation and Affirmations. It is suitable for practitioners who seek a complete yet slower and less athletic Asana practice while having a stronger focus on Pranayama, Meditation and Relaxation.

MEDITATION

Meditation is incorporated into every Jivamukti Open and Spiritual Warrior class and is taught in detail during the fourth week of every month at Jivamukti Yoga Fundamentals classes. Jivamukti Yoga Meditation Classes instruct meditation as it has been introduced by founders Sharon Gannon and David Life.

RESTORE & RENEW

This class is designed to rest your mind and your body. It involves gentle movements, breathing techniques, meditation, a guided relaxation, Sanskrit chanting, and asana held for a couple of minutes. You will feel physically and mentally restored after taking this class. It is a beautiful addition to all vinyasa-based Jivamukti Yoga classes, such as Open or Spiritual Warrior Classes. Your fascia will be gently but effectively stretched, your breath elongated, and your mind calmed.

During this week at Adler Lodge Ritten, you will explore some of these classes, together with the Chakra unique Chakra Balancing Class designed by Sharon Gannon, co-founder of this method.
