JIVAMUKTI YOGA

Come vediamo noi stessi determina chi siamo.
SHARON GANNON
Jivamukti yoga was established in the 80s by SHARON GANNON and DAVID LIFE. Jivamukti yoga integrates spiritual teachings with our modern lifestyle. The aim of yoga is be truly and lastingly happy. In a jivamukti class the ancient scriptural yoga teachings are taught alongside a challenging asana practice, pranayama, music, mantras, study of texts, poetry and literature. Students are encouraged to reflect upon life in relation to Mother Earth, on compassion for all living things and on ethical and responsible behaviour for the well being of all. This challenging practice is necessary to encourage students to test their own ability and to move beyond their limits as defined by ourselves and society where we are told that our happiness is dependent on material external things. Jivamukti helps to bring us back to our true nature which is joyfulness and teaches us that happiness is inside each one of us, as happiness is our essence, and thus jivamukti.
Jivamuktiyoga is a joyous journey towards illumination.
The word jivamukti is made up of two Sanskrit words ; jiva, the individual soul, and mukti meaning freedom from avidya (ignorance). Thus The name jivamukti mirrors the true meaning of yoga; the search for freedom.
There are five elements that are key to a jivamukti lesson: ahimsa (non violence), Bhakti (devotion), dhyana (meditation), nada yoga (the yoga of sounds and profound listening), sastra (scriptures and Sanskrit).

How we treat others affects how others treat us. How others treat us affects how we see ourselves. How we see ourselves affects who we are.
